FOUNTAIN RECOVERED

Renovation and conversion of a historic building in Geneva's Old Town

The renovation and conversion project for the building located at Rue de la Fontaine, in the heart of Geneva's Old Town, is part of an approach that combines respect for heritage with the integration of contemporary requirements. Located in a protected area, the building had significant historical and architectural value, requiring a sensitive and measured approach.
Our work consisted of the targeted restoration of existing features of interest — old parquet floors, wood panelling, travertine cladding and unique structures — while restoring coherence to the common areas and circulation spaces. The shop windows were completely replaced, offering new visibility onto the street, while a boutique was created on the ground floor and basement. The first and second floors were converted into offices, combining the historic spatial qualities with fittings adapted to current uses.
Significant compliance work was carried out throughout the building: fire safety, technical installations, modernisation of the lift and adaptation to current standards. This project required prior APA authorisation and close collaboration with the Monuments and Sites Services, reinforcing our experience in managing heritage projects on occupied sites.
This achievement illustrates our ability to combine the preservation of remarkable built heritage with contemporary functional and technical requirements. It demonstrates a desire to reveal the intrinsic qualities of the building while ensuring its long-term sustainability and appeal.
