REHABILITATION

Architectural renovation and sustainable energy in the heart of Geneva

This project is part of a modernisation and sustainability initiative in Geneva's historic Saint-Gervais district. Located at the intersection of Rue du Cendrier and Rue Kléberg, this mixed-use building bears witness to urban evolution while looking to the future thanks to a carefully thought-out architectural intervention. The main aim of the project is to completely renovate the building's energy performance, in line with current sustainability requirements. The renovation aims to improve thermal and energy performance while respecting the existing aesthetics and enhancing the heritage assets of the main façade.

A dialogue between past and present
Historically, the Rue du Cendrier building block has undergone a number of significant transformations, notably in the 1960s with the introduction of modernist volumes incorporating materials such as concrete and glass. This project takes account of this rich history by preserving the vertical proportions and window rhythms characteristic of the adjacent buildings. The retail base, with its large shop windows, has been upgraded to enhance its role in urban life.

Transformation of interior spaces
The attic flats have been completely reconfigured to provide modern, bright and functional living spaces. The transformation incorporates quality materials and interior design solutions designed to maximise residents' comfort while creating a visual connection with the surrounding city.

A sustainable and eco-responsible project
The energy renovation is based on the integration of cutting-edge technologies: reinforced insulation, high-performance thermal windows and the installation of an eco-responsible heating system. This project will help to reduce the building's ecological footprint while increasing thermal comfort for users.

Urban harmony
The work on the main façade on the Rue du Cendrier side, while adding a touch of modernity, is designed to blend harmoniously with the surrounding architectural ensemble. The generous openings and finishing details soften the transition between the modernist styles and the more classical elements of the street.
